Greg Carpenter, California Equity Advisor Business BrokerGREG CARPENTER, CM&AP, M&AMI, CBI, MBA
Managing Director

My goal as a business broker since 1985 has always been to provide excellence in client representation for sellers and buyers of businesses.

Selling a business or buying a business is a complex process that can be very rewarding if properly managed. Toward that end, I have continued my education in the profession to better serve my clients with a depth of knowledge gained through formal education, experience, research and collaboration with other trusted advisors in hundreds of business sale transactions.

Please see the “Credentials and Ethics” page for details about education.

After several years of experience as a business broker, I co-founded a Main Street Brokerage, California Business Opportunities, which was highly successful.  Toward the end of the 1990’s I realized that I was primarily serving middle market business sellers and buyers, so I co-founded California Equity Advisors to focus exclusively on the middle market. After the dot com bust, California Equity Advisors affiliated with BTI Group, Business Team, to serve sellers and buyers of small- to medium-size businesses.  Today, I serve as Managing Director of BTI Group M&A and Vice President of Business Team.

Prior to business brokerage I was a High Tech Product Marketing Manager, National Sales Manager, European Sales Manager and Materials Manager for an electronics manufacturing company.  Experience in these varied management positions gave me intimate knowledge about running businesses for growth and profit enhancement. Early in my career I was an industrial controls technician, a heavy machinery erector and a certified pressure vessel welder.

I served in the United States Air Force in accounting and finance, receiving an honorable discharge at the end of my term of enlistment.

I have been married for 28 years.  We have three children who each have two children.  Two of our children are attorneys who are partners in their firms and one of our children is a PhD Psychologist.

My wife and I enjoy dining, dancing, music, movies, skiing, mountain biking, road biking and playing with our two yellow Labrador retrievers.
